My friend Molly, who pretty much knows everything (and for that matter, everyone), sent the following to me the other day.
I’m warning you, this is very heady stuff.
Carry on.

Molly’s note, coupled with the delightful bottles of POM Wonderful that the folks from POM sent me to test drive , lead me on a taste testing mission. Plus, Mother’s Day is this weekend, right? I just had to create something scrumpdillyicious for all the moms out there.
I don’t go for the treacly Battenberg lace and perfumey type of Mother’s Day trappings. If it’s frilly and pink and smells like honeysuckle then my name isn’t on the gift tag. You might say I’m more dirty and noisy than that. I figured there are a lot of moms who don’t want to lounge with a pink concoction in hand so I created something more Jazzberry Jam than Tickle Me Pink. (Sidebar: There is nothing I’d like more than to have a job naming Crayon colors or nail polish!)
My ode to moms the world over: POM Momagarita
2 cups POM Wonderful pomegranate juice
3-4 shots of tequila (Don’t go cheap here. You won’t be sitting tilted back in a ratty old dental chair doing upsidedown margaritas at the Kappa Sig house. Spring for the stuff a few shelves above what the college crew is buying.)
1/2 cup of bitter lemon soda
1/2 cup sour mix
juice of 1 fresh lime
sliced lime wedges
Margarita salt (Directions for rimming a glass here)
Pour all the liquid ingredients into an iced pitcher (can also cut the recipe in half and use a cocktail shaker). Squeeze in the lime juice. Stir vigorously. Rim margarita glasses with salt and add ice. Strain cocktail into glasses and plop in a lime…you know, to make it pretty.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!
(Full disclosure: The bottles of POM were free, but with no strings attached. I’m posting this because I love the stuff, not because it’s a paid endorsement. That’s not how I roll.)
It was nice meeting you that RDU Mom’s Night Out last night – Hope your weekend is full of quiet 🙂
5:00 Fridays for all the moms out there! Cheers from me and @POMonline! http://www.dirtandnoise.com/2010/05/07/500-fridays-pom-momagarita/
