Bird was sick last week.
Then Mac Daddy came home with the flu.
Deal has so far been spared.
I am the flu’s latest victim.
I shan’t bore you with the phlegmy, fatigued details of my malady. Suffice it to say that I haven’t an appetite for coffee, food, or wine. You see the gravity of this ailment, no?
For several days now I have been alternating hot and cold liquids to soothe my throat and warm my belly or cool my innards, depending on which side of the chills I happen to fall. I won’t bore you with my tea concoctions or the grace in a simple mug of hot vegetable broth. Instead, allow me to share one of my favorite chilled treats. Once the weather turns to more chirpy mornings and fewer chilly breezes, I’ll make a toast to the new season of spring. And bid adieu to flu season.
Spring’s Sorbet
Sorbet
Frozen berries
Scoop a dollop of your favorite sorbet into a champagne flute. After vacationing in Sorrento, I can’t get enough lemony goodness so I opt for lemon, with any of its citrus sisters as a close second. Top with prosecco. Plop a couple frozen berries in for good measure. I prefer raspberries, but you really can’t go wrong here.
A toast to good health, the one thing we take for granted even more than the people we love.
