The whole adage “a day late and a dollar short” really strikes a chord with me. In fact, right now I am actually two days late and many dollars short. Dude, I missed National Margarita Day! It was on February 22. I’ve been nursing a cold anyway so I was drinking chamomile tea laced with Emergen-C, but still… I have a particular affinity for margaritas since Mac Daddy and I got married in Key West, home of the perfect margarita.
Since I am feeling better and feel the need to compensate for being late and short (save the height jokes), I figured I’d concoct a margarita of my own.
Late & Short Margarita
1 ounce tequila (I used Sauza.)
1 ounce Triple Sec (Every time I see, say, or think “triple sec,” in my head I say “wait a sec.” Random fact.)
3 ounces cranberry juice
juice of 1 lime
splash of ginger ale
Pour tequila and triple sec into a rocks glass. Top with cranberry juice, squeeze in lime juice, add some ice. Top off with ginger ale and give it a stir. You can be festive and plop in some fresh or frozen cranberries, but I just left my sparkly bright stir stick in there to add some pop.
Come to think of it, I once had a roommate named Margarita who was always late and was really short. True story.
