We used to watch Planet Earth on our old behemoth television that made everyone look grainy and pockmarked. We always commented how much better Planet Earth would be in HD. It took Wisconsin going to the Rose Bowl and the Packers going to the Super Bowl to give Mac Daddy the nudge he needed to spring for a new TV. Now when we watch Planet Earth, the quality is astounding. As in literally jaw dropping, audibly oohing and aahing good. We all watch with rapt attention and feel a profound sense of wonder about our planet and the other creatures that grace it. Bird and Deal love watching shows like Planet Earth so I was excited to have the opportunity to host a talk in The Motherhood called “Adventurers Among Us: Exploring the Arctic and Antarctic.”
On Tuesday, March 13 at 1:00 ET We’ll be talking with Vanessa Berlowitz, Discovery Channel series producer of Frozen Planet (follow-up to our beloved Planet Earth), a co-production between Discovery and the BBC. The discussion will focus on Vanessa’s experiences filming polar bears, whales, and penguins at the Poles and should be amazing, informative and inspirational. Seriously, I can hardly contain myself. Her adventures sound marvelous. You absolutely must join me!
In the mean time, check out “Penguin Cam,” a live feed of SeaWorld San Diego’s Penguin Encounter (We went to SeaWorld in San Diego last year and LOVED it. Deal and I were ready to camp out with the penguins because they were so darn adorable. The boys are aching to go back to SeaWorld!) Warning, Penguin Cam will momentarily ruin all productivity but is sure to elicit warm fuzzies. Penguins happen to be Mac Daddy’s favorite animal so I know he’s going to love this.
When: Tuesday, March 13, at 1 p.m. ET. We will chat for 30 minutes! It’s a text chat so you don’t even need to brush your hair or swipe on mascara!
Where: On The Motherhood, right here – http://www.themotherhood.com/
Who: The all-text chat will be hosted by Frozen Planet series producer Vanessa Berlowitz. I’ll be co-hosting with these amazing bloggers and hope to see you there!

I know how you feel, it was the Planet Earth series that inspired me to upgrade to an HDTV. While I was at it I upgraded to an HDDVR from DISH as well. I have Planet Earth and Blue Planet recorded to the DVR and I will be adding Frozen Planet as well. These films are astonishing both in the content and videograhpy. I choose DISH because they offer the most HD channels available from any provider, although I could (almost) be happy with Discovery HD. As an employee I know they have great offers like the HD Free fro Life promotion I signed up for when I upgraded. Now I am all set for Frozen Planet next week!
