Shockingly, I have some things to say about two very different issues – one that affects me personally right where it hurts and one that affects me as a citizen and human being.
Republicans voted to double student loan interest rates. Ouch. That’s the one that hurts in the old bank account. Granted, my interest rate are locked in, though my graduate school debt looms over my head like Roadrunner’s anvil. I feel sympathy pain for my loan compadres and shudder to think what college costs will look like when Bird and Deal pick a major. As you can imagine, I think it’s a craptastic move.
President Obama (finally) spoke out in support of same sex marriage, which means he and Dick Cheney have at least one thing in common. Dick Cheney might be the most aptly named man in Washington. Just sayin’. I am thrilled the President took the risk to come out on this topic (pun fully intended). Politicking and strategy aside, he stepped up on the heels of North Carolina voting to pass Amendment One. That’s the part that hurts. I weighed in at The Stir.
