I hate New Year’s Eve. I always have. I don’t understand why it’s fun to get all dressed up in sparkly clothes and have some lush spill his drink on your lap. And then you have the whole ordeal of restaurants and bars overcharging you for cheap champagne and fried congealed cheese bites. I haven’t even gotten to the crazies on the road…
I just don’t think New Year’s Eve is all that.
I’m happy settling in with some friends and family to play WiiU (another excuse to play Sing Party!) and sip some cocktails and nosh on cheese fondue in the comfort of my own home. We generally spare our friends the drive home and just have a family sleepover. Having another family whom we all adore is one of life’s greatest gifts. Anyway, we’re not going hog wild for New Year’s Eve. We’ll ring in the new year at 7:00 EST, which is midnight Greenwich Mean Time, and then don our pajamas and kick back. Friends are akin to family at Chez Dirt & Noise so we have no problem getting comfy and cozy. No Spanx. No high heels. No glam. The only sparkle you’ll find is in our smiles.
Happy New Year!
