So we bought a house.
To say it’s a fixer-upper would be a severe understatement. It’s a storied house, having been a fraternity and most recently, home to a bunch of Dominican friars. I also met a neighborhood gent who told me about some hubba-hubba moments he had in the house with a college girlfriend back in the day. That was admittedly a tish disturbing, and I shall never be able to look at this man in the eye again when our dog walking paths cross. Alas, this old house, built in 1920 as a duplex, is a classic “if these walls could talk” sort of place.
We are embarking on our third historic renovation. The people at the state historic office must think we are nuts. So do our friends. We are wanderlust sort of people. Renovating another house is the closest we could get to satiating our lust to wander (unless an opportunity to move abroad presents itself!). I’ve (sadly) never documented our past renovations. We just have some lame before and after photos. This time I’m going to share more information. Mac Daddy is just hoping I don’t crowdsource any big decisions.
For now, join me in toasting this new adventure! Once this house is done, it just might be our very own trophy.
Mac Daddy and I closed on the house and went immediately down the road to celebrate at Raleigh’s new Trophy Brewing. We had Quiz Wiz and Flirt. We liked both so much that we bought growlers to bring home. You can talk amongst yourselves to figure out who’s the Quiz Wiz and who’s the flirt.

Personally, I find it much more enjoyable to watch a renovation than do it myself. (Lesson learned!) I’m excited for your new adventure. Congrats!
