The amount of treacly Mother’s Day marketing is nauseating. I don’t want flowers, a vacuum, a pasta pot, support stockings, or tickets to a Chippendales show to honor my role as a mother. What I want is a gardener, a house keeper, a sous chef, new shoes, and tickets to an island nestled in a sapphire blue sea.
Ah, the mere notion of a vacation makes me breathe easier as I get lost in a daydream…
SNAP! Back to life, back to reality.
This Mother’s Day I’ve concocted a special cocktail. This is what moms really want.
Mother’s Day Perfection
2 parts sleep
1 part peace (This means no fighting, bickering, he-started-it, or whining.)
1 part obedience
3 parts snuggling
2 pairs of new shoes
1 part nap
1 part decadent indulgence in calorie-free desserts
1 spicy bloody mary
2 parts reading in a comfy chair
1 new purse
2 parts hugs and kisses
Mix all ingredients immediately and serve all day. Carry on throughout the week. Repeat.
