It’s Father’s Day weekend. I thought I’d clue you in just in case all the ads for ties, belts, power tools, and lawn mowers weren’t enough. I don’t know anyone who wants a tie or anything with “World’s Best Dad” emblazoned on it. We don’t even have a yard so the lawn mower gift idea is out. Mac Daddy and I are hopelessly un-handy so no power tools either. As for ties…well, if he wears one it means he’s groveling or going somewhere boring fancy.
Our focus on Father’s Day is mostly on food and laziness. Come to think of it, Mother’s Day rolls the same way around here. We are easy to please.
This Father’s Day we’ll kick back with a refreshing summer libation and toast the dads who shaped us. I’ll drink twice to toast Mac Daddy and our marvelous luck to have him in our lives. He truly is the World’s Best Dad. He just doesn’t have a mug that states it.
Cool Dad
2 ounces good quality gin (my new favorite is Death’s Door.)
2 slices fresh cucumber
squeeze of lime
Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes (Never crushed, lest you want a watered down drink! I have an aversion to crushed ice.) Add gin. Plop in cucumber and squeeze in lime. Stir it up with your finger, clean finger that is. Perfect for the Cool Dad in your life.

Kids and stuff. Been there. Done that. I came via Gen Fab II so I decided to comment on this post that is much more to my *ahem* taste and daily life than school and summer with the kids as I poked around your site. I am going to try a Cool Dad this weekend. Will let you know what I think. *hic*

Gin martinis used to be my Father’s drink and since he has been gone I have been known to drink them occasionally. This looks delish and possibly tastier than the ‘straight up’ of my father’s era but still keeping the memory of him alive. Thank you for sharing.
