I-L-I-N-A
My name is Ilina.
Last name Ewen.
There’s no -ing there, so don’t make Dallas jokes. Also, we are a family of winners, but there’s no i in my last name. I understand it can be confusing when’s one’s surname is also a full sentence. “Ewen = You win.”
Here are the various ways I’ve seen my first name spelled in correspondence in the last week alone. I kid you not.
Llina
Ilana
Ileana
Ilena
Alina
Lllina
Illina
Elena
Alena
I try to give a pass when font excellence is lacking.
I see how, at a glance, you might think my name is a double-L. But whose name begins with a lower case l? If my name started with an L, it would be a capital letter L. This is not hard, folks. A serif font makes all the difference.
