I can’t believe it’s already Memorial Weekend. I feel like I was just vacuuming up pine needle remnants from the Christmas tree and covertly tucking away our Elf on a Shelf. I suppose this marks the end of Candy Season…you know, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter. Memorial Day is the unofficial kick off to summer, and in these parts, summer means iced tea. In the South they drink sweet, but being a tad high maintenance, I prefer mine half sweet, half straight up. And with lemon. Always a squeeze of fresh lemon.
No one else in my house drinks iced tea so it’s not really worth it to use up valuable refrigerator space with a whole pitcher of tea. When I’m craving iced tea I just suck it up and make do with water. I know, the struggles I face are so dire. I’m really not as spoiled as I sound. But I would be lying if I told you that I wasn’t more than a wee bit excited when I got a new Keurig brewer dropped on my doorstep. It’s as if the Elf on a Shelf had been listening after all.
I thought these gadgets that I see in doctor’s offices and hotel lobbies only brew coffee. Lo and behold, they make tea too! My iced tea woes are over. I can make a glass of iced tea whenever I get the hankering. And the milk doesn’t have to spoil on the counter when I make room for the iced tea pitcher in the fridge.
It seems only appropriate to herald in summer with an iced tea cocktail with one of my summer time favorites – Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. I love the brand, but boy do the handlers stink at engaging and interacting on Twitter. As a marketer and communicator, I get miffed when brands talk about themselves and never respond to consumers. Sorry for the tangent. I digress easily.
Over 21 Iced Tea
8 ounces iced tea
1 ounce Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka
splash of club soda
lemon wedge
If you have the handy Keurig gadget, brew some tea. Otherwise, use your favorite brewed iced tea. Promise me you won’t use the tangy powdered stuff. Fill a high ball glass with ice. Better yet, grab a Tervis Tumbler so you can take your cocktail to the front porch with the ceiling fans cooling you down with a gentle breeze. Add the Firefly vodka, top with a splash of club soda for a fizzy effect. Squeeze in that lemon (or lime, or orange, or whatever zesty citrus you have on hand.). Stir. Sip. Repeat.
And because I like to throw in some surprise treats for my readers once in a while, I have a special Keurig deal to share with you. It is valid now through June 10. Feel free to pass it on to share with your BFFs. The promo code AM0013-3577 is good for 15% off the product of the month, which just so happens to be Brew Over Ice right now! It’s a great selection of teas that are sure to pair well with some Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka to make your drink an over 21 summer time indulgence.
Disclosure: I am a Keurig brand ambassador and received my brewer for free, but my opinions cannot be bought. See that Keurig logo in my sidebar to the right? Yup, that tells you I’m an official ambassador.

Damn, it’s like you’re reading my mind. We have a Keurig in the office; I just 10 minutes ago brewed some green tea over ice. Not into a Tervis though, those are at home, where I don’t have a Keurig.

Now see, I was rolling along thinking I don;t need any more sugar. And here you come with this “make one glass of tea gadget”. Wrong. Just wrong of you. Now excuse me while I run out to buy a Keurig!
