To say it’s a rainy day is a gross understatement. This is the closest to understanding my parents’ description of Calcutta’s monsoon season that I’ve ever gotten. Roads are flooded, and my phone’s weather severe weather app keeps beeping with flash flood alerts. The wind is a chortling beast, and the fat rain drops on the air conditioning unit sound like a round of bullets pinging metal. It’s unnerving.
I’m staying put tonight. The boys want to go out for sushi, but I’m tempted to eat ice cream sundaes for dinner and chill out in my jammies with a movie and a beverage.
By beverage I mean one of the over 21 variety.
