I prefer an umbrella in my drink.
I’m not sure if I’m stuck in a Milli Vanilli video or a Ray Bradbury short story. Each glimpse of sunshine makes me feel the anticipation Margot must have felt in the haunting tale All Summer in a Day. Sometimes I have to go outside to ensure I still live in Raleigh, NC instead of London or Seattle. Summer has taken a turn from scorcher to soaker. The drowned rat look is not particularly becoming, and the general elan of the public has been punctured by piercing drops of rain that are more like wet daggers than lilting droplets.
The rain has made our collective mood sour.
Blame It On the Rain
1 1/2 ounces Rain Organic cucumber lime vodka
4 ounces limeade
1 Tablespoon thyme simple syrup
Splash club soda
Paper umbrella
Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add vodka and limeade. Stir in thyme simple syrup. Stir ever so gently. Top with club soda. Stick in a colorful paper umbrella to make it look as good as it tastes.
Now grab some kicky galoshes and a punchy umbrella to make the best of Mother Nature’s hissy fit.
