I’m suffering from acute tendinitis in my elbow. I assure you there is nothing cute about it. I shall keep my writing brief today, lest I strain my arm even more.
While I covet boots weather, we are still in summer mode here in North Carolina. The days are pleasant and sunny while the nights are cool. It’s a glorious time of year. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes think so too because those blood thirsty terrors are out in droves. It’s nothing that a screened in porch won’t fix. Oh wait, I don’t have a screened in porch.
Yet.
Soon the walls will be down to turn this room into a lovely screened in porch, replete with massive fireplace. Our renovation is moving right along.
While the seasons straddle hot and cool, much like a tween’s mood swings, I like to sip something light and fruity, yet earthy at the same time. Gone are the days of tropical libations. It’s too soon for appley whiskey drinks. I need something that steers me through the intersection of summer’s fanciful days and fall’s wistful nights.
Thyme for Autumn Tonic
1 sprig fresh thyme
3 ounces good quality vodka
2 slices of start fruit
6 ounces sparkling water
1 wedge lemon
Place thyme, star fruit, and vodka in a low ball glass and muddle. Add ice and sparkling water. Squeeze in just a tish of lemon and discard.
Now…which boots shall I wear first this season?
