The worst thing about winter for me is the lack of fresh fruit. Okay, it’s not really the worst. Suffice it to say I hate everything about winter. Except the boots. I do love me some boots.
Around here we eat our weight in citrus. I always have a bowl of clementines on the kitchen counter. They are so sweet it’s almost like having candy. Okay, that’s not really true either. I do love me some candy. I’m cursed with a sweet tooth.
I don’t have a cool vintage juicer like Jennie’s so I wasn’t going to take all those clementines to make a cute pitcher of juice for brunch. However, I figured I could squeeze some of that juice into a little bourbon on ice. Now I’ve got myself a refreshing yet warming cocktail to ward off the chill because Winter refuses to let go. Damn, she’s a tenacious broad this year.
Clem
2 ounces bourbon
Juice of one clementine
Clementine wedge for garnish
I love the little whiskey glasses my dad sent us as a housewarming gift. They are the perfect size and are ever so jaunty. Pop in 1 to 2 small ice cubes. Pour in the bourbon and squeeze in the clementine juice. Add the wedge for garnish. It looks like a little burst of sunshine on this otherwise wet, grey day.
